Invitation for Short-Term consultancy 

  • Position: Project Technical Expert – Regional Workshop Facilitator
  • Project Title: Renewable Energy for Sustainable Transformation of Rural Economy (RESTORE)
  • Employer: KAKUTE Projects
  • Location: Monduli District & Babati District, Tanzania (with possible assignments in other project areas)
  • Engagement Type: Short-term, assignment-based consultancy during the project period of 2 years

The RESTORE project aims to improve income and employment opportunities for vulnerable rural households through climate-friendly, energy-efficient technologies. This involves aligning technology providers with rural value chain actors, equipping small businesses with energy-efficient solutions, and building entrepreneurial capacity. The Project Technical Expert will support various technical and facilitation assignments throughout the project duration, particularly in Field of Action: Improving Access to Energy-Efficient Technologies

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Technical Expert will be engaged periodically throughout the project for specific assignments, including but not limited to:

  • Workshop Facilitation – Lead and facilitate regional workshops to disseminate energy-efficient technologies and present findings from needs analyses.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Foster partnerships between technology providers, smallholder farmers, small processing companies, financial institutions, and local authorities.
  • Technical Guidance – Provide expert advice on renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies tailored to rural value chains.
  • Training & Capacity Building – Deliver training on technology management, entrepreneurship, and integration of energy-efficient solutions in small businesses.
  • Coaching & Mentorship – Support small businesses and start-ups through coaching programs aimed at improving market access, business skills, and strategic cooperation.
  • Demonstration Activities – Oversee practical demonstrations of energy-efficient technologies (e.g., LPG cookers) to showcase economic and environmental benefits.
  • Reporting – Prepare concise and comprehensive reports after assignments, highlighting outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Proven experience in facilitating workshops, trainings, and coaching programs in the renewable energy or sustainable development sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies, particularly their application in rural and low-income settings.
  • Strong background in engaging multiple stakeholders and fostering strategic partnerships.
  • Demonstrated experience working with smallholder farmers, small businesses, and community enterprises.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in both English and Swahili (spoken and written).
  • Strong report-writing skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into practical solutions.
  • Availability for short-term, assignment-based work over the project’s duration.

Locations: The regional workshop will be held in the following eight project locations

  • Monduli District: Selela, Majengo, Esilalei, Sepeko Wards
  • Babati District: Endakiso, Magara, Nkaiti, Mwada Wards
  • Additional activities may be assigned in other project-related locations
